Greenville Lawn Mowing

By in Landscaping

lawn care greenvilleA common misconception about landscaping is that all you need to do is turn on the lawnmower and start mowing. This is far from the truth; there is a specific set of guidelines you should be following.

Proper lawn mowing in Greenville should include the interaction of both the frequency of mowing and the height of the grass.

The majority of lawns should not be mowed to and lower than an inch and a half; higher than that if the lawn is mostly shaded. Also, the lawn should be mowed often enough so that only a third or less of the total area of the leaf is removed at a time.

While clippings do not contribute to thatch, it is a good idea to remove the grass clippings as often as possible, especially with a lawn that may be diseased.

You should also be sure that your mower blades are properly sharpened. Dull blades will shred the grass rather than cut, leaving the ends of the leaves brown.

You may also end up with dead grass that appears in the tire tracks of the lawn mower, especially with many riding lawn mowers. Try to avoid mowing during the day in dry conditions.

You can get away without paying attention while mowing, but by taking proper precautions, your lawn will end up much more healthy and green.
